On August 15, more than 150 prominent family offices, ultra-high-net-worth individuals and influential investors in the foundation community gathered for a one-day meeting hosted by the Hamptons Family Office Wealth Forum. By invitation only, the 1640 Society brought together qualified family office CIOs and leading families from around the world for a private gathering to hear from leaders in the field and discuss current issues.

The 1640 Society is a private and exclusive group of family offices. The Founding Families are influential ultra-high-net-worth family offices in search of a private forum to network with individuals of the same mindset, exchange information and ideas and examine areas such as wealth management and asset allocation.
This year’s forum connected families and philanthropists who summer in the Hamptons with attendees from the greater New York community as well as international families from Middle East, Europe and Asia. Speakers at the event were chiefly large single family offices, first generation wealth through fifth generation wealth, from multiple countries. Topics of discussion included asset allocation, impact investing, philanthropy and next generation family member leadership. Tim Draper talked about innovation, the Bronfman and Kluge families discussed family leadership and the Nygard family discussed healthcare investments made to try and save the life of a family member.

During the impact investing panel, Kay Koplovitz, founder of USA Networks, discussed her passion for backing women-led companies, together with Jeff Skoll’s Family Office principal touching on how to make real impact. NetJets, a headline sponsor of the event, displayed a simulation of its new Citation Latitude jet for those in attendance to experience. The forum concluded with a cocktail reception and concert performance by Nicole Raviv.
