Palm Beach County is typically the epicenter of the winter polo season. However, given the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, the United State Polo Association (USPA) announced the cancellation of the balance of the 2020 Gauntlet winter tournaments.

The International Polo Club (IPC) will postpone the remainder of the 2020 USPA Gold Cup Tournament to late January 2021, before the start of the 2021 Gauntlet of Polo. IPC will consider the feasibility of rescheduling the 2020 U.S. Open Polo Championship and changing handicap levels of the pre-Gauntlet tournaments this coming winter. Those with inquiries regarding IPC stadium tickets or brunch, should contact the club directly.

The COVID-19 pandemic has impacted businesses, daily life, and scheduled events throughout the Palm Beaches. The Palm Beach International Boat Show, originally slated for March 25-28, has been rescheduled for May 14-17. SunFest, which has taken place on the West Palm Beach Waterfront for 38 consecutive years, cancelled its 2020 music and arts festival.

The Town of Palm Beach also recently introduced a curfew that limits movement between the hours of 9 p.m. and 6 a.m. It will be in place until further notice. The Breakers, Palm Beach’s most iconic hotel, will also temporarily close, beginning at 4 p.m. on Wednesday, March 18, and continuing through Wednesday, April 8.

Additional Palm Beach County organizations that have announced temporary closures include the Norton Museum of Art, the Ann Norton Sculpture Gardens, the Flagler Museum, the Boca Raton Museum of Art, and Loggerhead Marinelife Center. The Kravis Center in West Palm Beach has suspended all performances through March 30. The Maltz Jupiter Theatre has also postponed its last production of the 2019-2020 season, How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying, and Palm Beach Dramaworks has closed and postponed its programming until further notice.
