Put the socks down. No, really.
To really spoil your old man, treat him to a proper meal at one of Hong Kong’s most impressive restaurants and bars. This year, Father’s Day takes place on Sunday 21 June, which provides the perfect excuse to pamper your pops. Whether he’s a classic steak and whisky pairing man or prefers modern cuisine, fine wines and anything different, we’ve gathered seven suggestions in handsome settings that will win your dad’s approval in no time.
Lobster Bar and Grill
You can’t go wrong with a good Sunday roast. And with Cary Doherty leading the charge at Lobster Bar and Grill, you can be sure the menu will be filled with stunners. Book in the Father’s Day Sunday Roast and a hearty three-course brunch, supplemented with a Bloody Mary or two, will ensue. What’s more, every gentleman will receive a complimentary bottle of craft beer by Young Master on the day. Or if beer isn’t your bag, a Father’s Day edition of their Negroni will seal the deal. It’s made with Michter’s rye whiskey, Laphroaig 10 years, Averna amaro, simple syrup and angostura bitters, adding smoky and bitter qualities to this cocktail.

Yat Tung Heen
Michelin-starred restaurant Yat Tung Heen offers Cantonese cuisine at its best and Chef Tam’s nine-course Father’s Day menu is no different. Filled with the restaurant’s top and signature dishes, dad will surely be nodding and smiling during this meal. Think Honey-glazed barbecued pork and Roasted crispy pork belly to start, before a luxurious Braised South African whole abalone with goose web, delicate Steamed garoupa and flavourful Braised bird’s nest soup with lobster. Dad’s sweet tooth prayers will be answered with Chinese desserts such as Double-boiled papaya, Puff pastry with lotus seed and Chilled mango glutinous rolls.

Henry
Rosewood’s American grill and smokehouse may be a stereotypical option for Father’s Day, but there really is more reason to book Henry than you think. For instance, their Prime Rib Brunch is indeed a surefire way to impress carnivorous dads with its meat-centric menu, but there are also Fine de Claire oysters paired with a bourbon mignonette and Butcher’s shop terrine and steak tartare, while a smoked eggplant salad sets the tone for the main course. Choose from premium cuts such as Brandt USDA prime rib, or opt for rotisserie chicken, Snake River Farm’s pork belly and roast legs of Elysian Fields lamb. Dad also gets to take home the bacon — Henry’s home-cured bacon that is — to continue the meat feast at home.
Available: 21 June 2020; two seatings from 11:00am to 1:00pm and 1:30pm to 3:30pm
Prices: HK$998 for adults; HK$450 for children aged 6 to 12; all prices are subject to 10% service charge

Other great matches such as Braised pork belly with preserved vegetables with Yamazakura – Asaka Distillery Newborn Single Cask #17701; and Black garlic fried rice with Highland Park Dragon Legend are notable too.
