In this dying age, it’s important to learn as much as you can. Options for healthcare and the food we put into our mouths. Simplyhealth invited me down to their “healthy cooking class” held at the Underground Cookery School.
Simplyhealth has over 140 years of history in the healthcare market and their mission is to provide people with affordable healthcare.
From the class I learned the “7 secrets to eternal youth”; some are common sense and things you will know.
Kate Cook has been practicing nutrition for over 13 years and gave an insight to some home truths to information the nation maybe be mislead by.
The 7 key things to know for eternal youth are “digestion and fibre, stress, antioxidants, water, detoxification, fats and blood sugar”
Your lifestyle plays a huge part to your health, incorporating more exercise, keeping hydrated by drinking more water.
Did you know a bottle of Lucozade contains 9 spoons of sugar?
Following a GI diet can help loose weight the healthy way, without going hungry. High GI foods, like white bread are heavily processed and have little nutrients.
Balancing food sugar is very important; eating light, fluffy foods will only make you hungrier after a while. Protein and fibre not only helps sustain the hunger longer you it helps keep the your energy level consistent.
Drinking water, yes you hear this all the time. It is possible to drink too much, as long as you know when to stop. Water helps flush toxins out the system.
I quote from Kate. “You can eat all the best food in the world but can have problems with digestion”
After the presentation, the group was divided into 2 teams. We learned how to debone a chicken and cut up a mackerel.
The results turned into a lovely nutritious 3-course meal cooked by the chefs at Underground Cookery School.
Thanks Simply Health for having me, throughly enjoyed the presentation and cooking class.
