90 Day Fiancé star Ed “Big Ed” Brown introduced fans to his new love interest, Liz, on season 1 of the discovery+ spinoff, 90 Day: The Single Life. The couple reconnected on season 2 and announced their quick engagement — but are they still together after the show? Keep scrolling below to get an update!
How Did Big Ed and Liz Meet?
Ed, 56, met Liz, 30, at his favorite local restaurant in San Diego, where she works as a manager. Liz is a single mom and has a young daughter, and she initially hit it off with Ed as friends. After consulting with a dating coach on the season 1 premiere, Ed plucked up the courage to ask Liz out on a date.
Big Ed and Liz Took Their Relationship to the Next Level
After about three dates, Ed asked Liz if she would be his date to a wedding and she said yes. They originally planned to sleep in the same hotel room but in separate beds. Due to an issue at the hotel, their double bed reservation had to be changed to a single, which meant they would have to sleep in the same bed.
Liz was wary at first but eventually agreed. The next morning, Ed gushed about taking the next step in his relationship with Liz.
“Last night was off the charts. We started snuggling. And we started to kiss. And she is so beautiful and soft and caring. She’s a giver,” Ed told the producers.
When he was asked if he and Liz had sex the night before, he responded, “OK so, we made love all night. We did it about twice. Liz’s body is amazing. It’s like a surreal dream. It’s just like, it was incredible. Like, incredible. I’ve never had anyone take over and make love to me in my life. It will go down in Big Ed history as, yeah, as the event. I’m just hoping that every time it’s gonna be like that.”
“It was really good. It was a good night,” Liz said in her confessional. “I had to teach him how to kiss so I feel like I have to train him to do a lot of things but we laughed about it.”
Big Ed and Liz Become Boyfriend and Girlfriend
The morning after their first intimate encounter, Ed asked the big question.
“So, I might as well talk about this now. I think we’re going to look like a couple. I would like to introduce you as my girlfriend at the wedding. And so, will you be my girlfriend?” he asked.
“I’ll be your girlfriend — just at the wedding,” she said with a laugh. “I’m just kidding, I’ll be your girlfriend,” she added and they kissed.
Does Big Ed’s Daughter, Tiffany, Approve of Liz?
As fans watched on season 4 of TLC’s 90 Day Fiancé: Before the 90 Days, Ed’s daughter, Tiffany Brown, was very against his relationship with his ex-girlfriend, Rosemarie “Rose” Vega. Tiffany, 31, did not approve of the former couple’s 31-year age gap, especially since Rose was four years younger than her.
Shortly after Liz agreed to be Ed’s girlfriend, he insisted that they make plans for her to meet Tiffany so that they could get to know each other before Tiffany gives Liz her seal of approval. Ed wanted to travel to Las Vegas to introduce his daughter to his new girlfriend in about two weeks, but Liz felt it was too soon. Since Liz is one year younger than Tiffany, she was worried that Tiffany would not approve.
“I just wasn’t prepared for the daughter comment. Like I don’t need bad vibes if that comes out, not saying there’s bad vibes. Just, I know we’re close in age and everything like that,” Liz told the cameras. “It’s just nerve-wracking and I’m just anxious because I don’t think that should have been brought up just yet.”
After they attended the wedding, Ed opened up about his concerns for the future of his relationship with Liz if Tiffany is not on board. “Liz lights up my world and I’m realizing that she’s who I want to be with forever,” he said. “But if Liz and I are going to work out, she needs to get along with my daughter. So, I hope Liz agrees to meet her or it’s possible it’s not going to work.”
Ed and Liz Confirmed Their Split on the Season 1 Single Life Tell-All
By the time they appeared on the tell-all, Ed and Liz had already broken up. “Ed loves to rush our relationship when we finally became a couple, the next week I was meeting his daughter, the next week I was meeting his sister, his brother. I was thrown in multiple situations I was not prepared for. It took me months to introduce him to my grandparents. Months for that to happen, to break up two weeks later,” Liz told tell-all host Shaun Robinson, getting emotional.
“I just would have never taken those steps if I knew that this was going to be the outcome. Cause I was not expecting this to be the outcome. I was expecting to be with each other. I never thought he would not be a part of my life. I thought he was going to be the one. So now I’m here on The Single Life … single,” she continued.
Ed apologized to Liz and admitted that they did move too fast. “Our relationship didn’t have a chance,” Ed said, starting to cry. “Everything she said is true.”
He explained that he was so excited to be in a relationship that he pushed Liz to take several big steps in their romance within a short amount of time. He admitted he “stopped listening” to Liz and that’s where their issues started. “Then I f—ked it up,” he said.
For her side, Liz explained that the reason why she didn’t pump the brakes on their relationship is because she thought that if she didn’t move at his pace, she would “lose” him. “He would tell me all the time that it wouldn’t work out between us. And it scared me that I would lose him,” Liz said, breaking down into tears. “So, I caved. I didn’t want to lose him, and I still lost him.”
Ed admitted he did tell Liz that they wouldn’t work out if they didn’t progress quickly in their romance. “Liz, you knocked me off my world, man,” he said. “Well, you shut me out,” she hit back.
He explained that he didn’t want to get hurt. “Well, I got hurt,” Liz responded. “You hurt me. You just completely left me and you promised me you wouldn’t leave me. This month has been hell.”
Ed Partied It Up in Las Vegas With Other Women After Liz Split
Liz then accused Ed of blocking her on social media and then going on a solo trip to Las Vegas after their split and bragged online about having “sugar babies.”
“I didn’t expect to be dumped and then him be out in Vegas, living the life,” she told Shaun.
The screen then flashed several photos of Ed on his trip, surrounded by several women. Liz said his excursion was two days after their split. He admitted to moving on from their relationship too quickly.
“I’m trying to fill my emptiness,” Ed explained after several of their Single Life costars called him out for his behavior. “We broke up and I went to Vegas. By the way, I haven’t been with any woman. Liz, look at me.”
“I’m looking at an a—hole right now,” she hit back. Ed ignored her insult and instead insisted that he’s been going to therapy and that there is “a lot” that he needs to work on.
Liz made it clear that they were over for the time being. “You sent me a lovely [text] message at one point saying that he’s gonna take girls out constantly until he finds the one. And that’s when I told myself it’s time to move on after three weeks of begging, not begging, hoping we would get back together,” she said. “That killed me. That killed me when I read those words.”
“I’m gonna be honest, I’m an a—hole. When we fight, I’m an a—hole. I’m sorry. I’m a d—k,” Ed admitted.
Why Did Big Ed and Liz Break Up?
Finally, Shaun asked the former couple what the reason for their breakup was. “We just fought all the time [about] stupid stuff. I’m not really affectionate the way he is, like, our love languages are different which can cause a conflict. Our problem is too, we would drink and fight. And that’s what led to a lot of stupid fights,” Liz said.
They could not pinpoint the exact fight that led to their split. “We don’t know. We were in the jacuzzi drinking and we just started fighting over such stupid s—t,” Liz said. “And I think I told you to leave, and then you actually left,” Ed said.
Liz said Ed would tell her to move out every time they would have a fight. “I told him, the next time he told me to leave his house, I was going to leave, and I left,” she said. “And I was devastated because she actually left,” Ed added.
All of their costars joined in on the conversation and they all took Liz’s side in the breakup. Ed and Liz started fighting again on stage over a previous blowout.
“Again, he still wasn’t listening to my needs,” Liz said. “Am I a self-absorbed a—hole, perhaps I am,” Ed admitted.
Their first segment ended with another apology from Ed. “I’m sorry,” he told Liz.
Later in the episode, Liz opened up more about what went wrong between her and Ed. “I feel like I was the one taken advantage of, and I feel like I was the one that was ultimately conditioned. I was constantly doing everything to give into his ultimatums. If he wanted something done, I’d do it. I’d cut back on hours. I was so scared that he was going to leave me that anything he wanted, I’d try to give it to him,” she said.
She explained that Ed would tell her things like their relationship wasn’t going to work if she didn’t spend more time with him. “Generally, the way that I feel for him is real. I miss him, I love him,” Liz added. “Yeah, it took me time to fall for him. It took me time to establish who he was as Ed and not who he was on social media. I came into this wanting to take this slow, I came into this wanting to get to know him. But when I fell, I fell for him.”
Big Ed Returns to The Single Life Season 2
After going through a rough time in his life, Ed tried to move on from Liz and went on several dates with different women, including one named Kaory. His friend Laura set him up with Kaory, who was her pal from childhood, and he traveled to her native country of Mexico so they could see each other face-to-face.
Even though they tried to enjoy each other’s company, it was clear their personalities and life goals were quite different.
“Kaory, she didn’t respond to my text messages,” he shared in an episode. “She ghosted me.”
How Did Big Ed and Liz Get Back Together?
In the wake of Ed’s failed journey to find love in Mexico, he returned to San Diego and his beloved dog Teddy sadly died shortly after. On a follow-up episode, the reality star expressed how appreciative he was for the flowers he received from friends and family while mourning Teddy’s death. Interestingly, one of the flower arrangements was from none other than Liz. He ended up reaching out to her, which reignited their romance and led to an engagement.
Big Ed and Liz Reconcile, Get Engaged
In September 2021, Big Ed and Liz shocked fans when they were spotted out clubbing together in Santa Barbara, California, TMZ reported at the time. During their night out, Liz was wearing a diamond ring on her left ring finger and Ed was introducing Liz as his “beautiful fiancée.”
Two months later, the happy couple confirmed their engagement news. During an interview with People in November 2021, they revealed that they reconnected when Liz reached out to Ed after his beloved dog Teddy died in August. Ed invited her over to his house for dinner and they discussed their relationship and he asked her a very important question.
“The question was, ‘Am I your forever?’ And she said yes,” Ed told the outlet. “And she ended up leaving for work and I did a beeline to the jewelry store and bought the biggest diamond I could find.”
Liz revealed that he didn’t waste any time getting down on one knee. “Back together on Saturday, engaged on Sunday!” she added.
