Nandish Sandhu on sharing the screen with Hrithik Roshan, projects that inspire him, and the changing face of entertainment…
You have been a part of many daily soaps. How does it help to craft your acting skills?
Acting is an art that involves processes and when you get to perform, your acting skills improve. Whether its theatre, daily soap or cinema, every platform is as good as the other because they all make you learn and unlearn so many aspects of acting. For me, facing camera has taught me a lit about timing, pauses, and postures that I was not aware of earlier. Also, the daily soaps make yo learn the art of time management, as you shoot almost 14-16 hours a day.
What is the best part of your profession and why?
Before I came to the world of acting, I never thought about things from others perspective. I think this is the best thing of this profession, as it makes you think beyond yourself and then gets into that character to justify it on screen. Also, travelling is the other aspect of the profession that helps you broaden your horizon and look at life with a different perspective. Here, there is nothing called monotonous and that is what excites me every morning to go to work and face new challenges.
Everyone is jumping in the digital space. What is your take and how comfortable you are being a part of the web series?
There was a time when theatre ruled the mind, then came daily soaps and now, it’s the time for web series. They are not only easy to access but also provide a wide range of content (without censorship) that it becomes easy for the audience to decide what they want to watch. This medium of entertainment has also increased the scope of employment in the industry. As far as my comfort is concerned, I would love to be part of the league and explore the avenues.
You are a part of upcoming Bollywood flick ‘Super 30’. How did you bag the project and how has been the experience of sharing the screen with Hrithik Roshan?
I will say that working with Hrithik Roshan was like a dream come true. He has been my favourite actor of all these years, and then working with him was like sharing space with an elder brother. I must say that during the shoot many pre-conceived notions were broken and I felt lucky to be a part of this project. As far as bagging the role is concerned, I was approached by Mukesh Chhabra’s casting company and after a series of meetings, screen tests, and look tests I signed the film.
What kind of roles and projects inspire you to say yes? Explain.
Any project that gives me the liberty to explore the character and add a little bit from my side, on the basis of my experiences, I am immediately attracted to it. For me, it is very important to feel the association with the project, else it’s not worth. At the end of the day, I should feel creatively satisfied.
