A Farfetch Easter – the chocolate factory

IMG_7798

I’m back with Farfetch the designer luxury online boutiques go to portal to spring into Easter with a chocolate truffle making class. I mean who doesn’t like chocolate. This time around I was invited down to Farfetch new offices in Old Street. I never been to a fashion office and envisioned a place something like out of the American TV show Ugly Betty.

I wasn’t too far off. Greeted with a sleek looking reception I took the elevator up to the doors of Farfetch. Some more background on Farfetch, it’s an online destination for over 400 boutiques from all over the world under one domain address. I brought my Études studio blazer from them and with me following bloggers from Singapore Club 21 is easily accessible to me. For you fashionistas the key trends for S/S 16 is the cold shoulder look where exposed shoulders gets head turning. The pleats ribbed texture and detailing. Netting, I love sheer netted skirts with another fabric showing through and lastly Suede making a comeback from the 70’s.

Lisa from The Cocoa Box started the bloggers off with some chocolate martinis. We then gathered around the table with Lisa giving us a presentation of cocoa. We then were tested if we could taste the difference between cheap and high quality chocolate. The cheaper quality was powdery and lost it’s flavour with hardly and chocolate taste. Lisa explained that that by looking at the back of the ingredients list looking for the percentage of cocoa you know that it’s a decent.

Next we did the taste test and I can proudly say I guess all the flavours of the chocolate handed chopped up on a plate. From salt, rose and chilli chocolate, I managed to correctly guess the key flavour.

We then proceed to the fun part, making our own chocolate truffles. Chocolate truffles are the easiest but messiest things to make perfect to give out as gifts for Easter. Mixing melted chocolate with cream then filling the piping bags. Mine did look like poop coming out from the bag, soon to be rolled into small balls finished with dustings of coco powder, sorbet or sprinkles.

Thank you Farfetch for inviting me to the Easter chocolate making event. The Cocoa Box for teaching us.
