A Luxury Spanish Villa: La Esperanza Granada Hotel Review

Granada, Spain should be on every travelers bucket-list! From the stunning mountainous landscape to the even more impressive architecture at famous places like the Alhambra palace, there is so much culture, history, and beauty to soak up in Granada. If you’re looking to enjoy both peaceful and luxurious surroundings while being close enough to all the action, I highly recommend booking a stay at La Esperanza Granada

The Location

This majestic hacienda is nestled in the Lecrín Valley, a beautiful part of the Andalucía region which shouldn’t be overlooked. Their prime location means that La Esperanza Granada is very close to the famous Sierra Nevada mountains and the historic mountain village of Alpujarra. You’re also only about a 30 minute drive from the center of Granada which means you can experience the best of both worlds – nature and city life.

The Facilities

La Esperanza Granada is an authentic hacienda spread across an 112-acre estate which was originally a private home. But after Christine Cunanan acquired it during the summer of 2020, she beautifully transformed the villa into a small luxury hotel. And thanks to her hard work and attention to detail, La Esperanza Granada is already a member of Preferred Hotels & Resorts L.V.X. collection, meaning it’s in their elegant and exclusive collection of unique hotels with a local flair. And as you know from our previous articles, we are big fans of Preferred Hotels & Resorts and trust that we will always experience the best of the best at any of their properties around the world.

At La Esperanza Granada, there are 7 rooms (soon to be 8) distributed around the Nazrid courtyard that is inspired by La Alhambra. In fact, it has been decorated with tiles from a Granada-based business called Ceramica Alyarrar which has been involved in ceramic tradition for 5 generations! Along with stunning courtyards, gardens,  and viewpoints from almost every angle, guests can enjoy a pool, jacuzzi, and tennis court too. I particularly loved unwinding at the pool and jacuzzi while watching the sunset after a long day of exploring Granada. The property is also surrounded by orange, lemon, and olive trees which create the most beautiful aromas as you can imagine.

As far as dining and enjoying a nice beverage, you can do so in La Esperanza’s grand salon. This is the perfect setting for a romantic dinner by the fireplace which we enjoyed on one of our evenings. This magnificent room is decorated with paintings by local artists and an impressive art collection with pieces in which the Flamenco spirits prevails (you’ll enjoy this type of furniture throughout all the rooms too). The 1903 Bechstein grand piano and the Versace-style dining table really stood out to me, adding so much character to this space. Please note that La Esperanza Granada offers private chef meals, classes, sommelier and wine tastings as well.

The Rooms

During my stay at La Esperanza Granada, I stayed in their Junior Suite which is a fantastic corner room with high ceilings and fantastic light. I also had access to two private patios and the courtyard. Waking up to enjoy my morning coffee on a private terrace overlooking Granada was a pretty special experience and definitely my favorite part of the Junior Suite. I also loved the spacious bathroom and walk-in closet.

Another very special room I’d highly recommend is the Master Villa. This consists of two floors and has its  very own living room, dining room, library and kitchen. No matter which room you choose, you can expect exquisite Spanish furnishings, Andalucían art, and luxurious charm.

The Services

Thanks to its stunning facilities, surroundings, and service, La Esperanza Granada is such a romantic place to host weddings and other special events. All guests can enjoy a spa treatment room which offers wonderful massages to improve your overall wellness and relaxation levels. You can also enquire about private yoga and meditation during your stay.

Some other fantastic services that La Esperanza Granada will personally arrange for you are attending Flamenco performances, stargazing evenings, horseback riding, and more. But without a doubt, you need to have them arrange a private tour of Granada with Aixa Dreams or other Andalucían cities during your stay. It’s up to you how much exploring you want to do while residing at La Esperanza Granada, but I recommend a wonderful balance of relaxing on their stunning property and exploring nearby sights. My only complaint was that I had to leave after a couple days but I certainly cannot wait to return!

Disclosure: I was a guest of La Esperanza Granada, but all opinions here are my own.
