Paid social networks were all the rage a few years ago. Are they still worth joining today? I was a member of A Small World (ASW) for 2 years, and I saw no benefit of paying $110 for membership when I could have gotten the same results with a free social networking.
The biggest mistake I made was to sign up for auto renewal. When it was time to renew, ASW sent me an email saying my credit card didn’t go through for some reason. Therefore, I didn’t cancel the auto renewal since my card didn’t go through at renewal. Big mistake. ASW continued to run my card through until they got it to work, which was a month after my membership ended. They refused to refund me my money, so I had to go through my credit card company to get reimbursed.
