A Traveler’s Favorite Tech Companion
The Lenovo Yoga 3 Pro, 2-in-1
By Candace Boggan
Anyone who travels often will agree that having the right travel companion can make all the difference in the success of the journey. Since working remotely has become the norm, companies have worked ardently to produce multifunctional devices to meet our demands. Thankfully, they realized this was mission critical, considering we find ourselves conducting business from a wide range of places; throughout airports and train stations, sprawled across area coffee shops, from the dining rooms of social clubs, on the road – sometimes literally on the side of the road – from chain hotels to exotic resorts in remote locations, and everywhere in-between. After years of dragging my less than practical laptop from place to place, I am pleased to say that I have found the solution to my plethora of business and travel needs – the Lenovo Yoga 3 Pro, 2-in-1.
I recently became acquainted with the Yoga Pro line during my last business trip. Since then, I’ve come to adore everything about this ultrabook, and I think it’s simply fabulous. It’s sleek in design, lighter in weight than its predecessor, the Yoga 2 Pro (which I checked-out in store previously,) and it’s functional in every way. I’ve yet to decide which impresses me most; the design, its features, or how it performs. At 0.5 inches in thickness, and 2.6 lbs in weight, I’m beyond thrilled by its ability to rotate 360 degrees. Yes, the Yoga 3 Pro, remarkably lives up to its name. The hybrid’s keyboard conveniently converts at the flick of a wrist, thanks to an ingenious watchband hinge design. The 2-in-1 also has the capacity to fully operate from 4 distinct modes; transforming instantly to a laptop, tablet, tent, or stand, depending on your business need. Deemed the worlds thinnest multitouch, this feature alone is a huge win for travelers across the globe. Commuters are often subject to tight quarters, thus having the flexibility to covert between office modes and even to an entertainment space is optimal. After years of squeezing my older, bulkier laptop into already cramped spaces, this ultraportable is a welcome breath of fresh air.
The Yoga 3 Pro comes with a 13.3 in durable, glossy, high-resolution touchscreen, which is constructed of smudge resistant gorilla glass. I’m pleased Lenovo considered daily wear and tear in crafting this design. Additionally, I find the keyboard to be equally appealing, with a textured finish and soft touch. It’s less abrasive on my palms and pairs nicely with the QHD display. The ultrabook offers a host of specs and features including, Windows 8.1 Pro operating system, Intel Core M processor, Intel HD graphics, 8GB of RAM, integrated JBL stereo speakers, 3 USB ports, SD card slot, roughly 7.2+ hrs of battery life, an integrated dual digital array microphone and motion control to name a few. This office-in-tow is available in a trio of colors; platinum silver, champagne gold, and clementine orange, for the bold business traveler. The premium design and ease of use and haul are a definite winning combination. I’d have to agree with the Lenovo tag line, “For Those Who Do,” – the Yoga 3 Pro is my favorite travel companion to date.
