A TRUE TRENCH

Even though we use the term trench coat generically to describe a style of coat, the authentic trench coat is made by Burberry. In 1879, Englishman Thomas Burberry patented gabardine, which is durable, tightly woven fabric that is resistant to water and wind. Around 1901, English officers recognized the usefulness of gabardines and started wearing Burberry coats in the trenches. A zip-out lining, shoulder tabs, D-shaped rings, and collar storm flaps are trademarks of the traditional trench coat.

Fashionistas, trench coats, or any belted coat, will give you more of an hourglass figure. You will want to choose a length that is shorter than the traditional trench coat. Also, by choosing a soft color, you will look more feminine, as opposed to looking like Private Benjamin.

Clotheshorses, for a more polished look, always keep your belts tightly fastened, as opposed to having them flapping in the wind. Also, opt for a darker color in order to avoid looking like Crime Dog McGruff.
