“Once you replace negative thoughts with positive ones, you’ll start having positive results,” these words of Willie Nelson defines the perspective of Abhilash Tikhe a model who has many dreams and the biggest of all is to open a modelling institute in Pune for all the aspiring minds. In a chat with TMM, he talks about the secret of positivity in his life and how he creates a balance between his passion and profession.
Abhilash means desire, what are your desires from life?
My only desire is to have my own modelling institute in Pune because what I can see is, there are many aspiring models in the city but are not aware of what modelling is all about. Through my institute, I want to educate them about modelling and scopes in the field.
Fashion is a world full of glamour and shades of grey. How do you deal with the stress and competition?
I don’t take any other model as a competition to myself because there is immense work out there as a model and I believe in myself and I know my potentials. What I also believe is, there is a huge space in the modelling industry for all the models to work together, rather thinking about the competition. I take inspiration from other models, learn from them and grow.
Winning a pageant is always an honour, share your memories of the same.
Winning a pageant is always a big honour and with the honour comes some sort of responsibility. Slowly, you become an inspiration to many aspiring models and they kind of start following you. I learned a lot from Rubaru Mr India Pageant. It taught me how to deal with tough situations, how to deal with stress as well. We were 38 finalists and we shared a great brotherhood amongst us and we helped each other even though when we were competing with each other.
Male models have to struggle a lot. Any comment.
Yes, I totally agree that male models have to struggle a lot initially for assignments, but I also believe that struggle is everywhere for everyone. If you have belief in yourself and your hard work, you will always enjoy your struggling part of life.
How does Abhilash Tikhe manage his work and modelling assignments?
What I usually do is, I take leave from my job for modelling assignments, there are a lot of people out there who tell me to leave my job and go totally into modelling but my thoughts are always clear that no matter what, I will always have other sources of income as well, because of the uncertainty of the modelling industry.
Any tips for young boys who are planning to participate in grooming pageants?
First and foremost, check the background and authenticity of the pageant you are participating in, because there are a lot of fake pageants out there in the market. Next, work on your weak points, the well-built physique is not the only important thing, but you should train your mind to be a winner. Last, but not the least, is to work on your communication skills and body language as well.
