It’s the weekend, baby!
Firstly, it was a huge week for annoying people: Philipp Plein revealed his awful new collection, people thought Pete Davidson was attractive, Elon Musk was named Person of the Year.
Also, not that he’s annoying, but Travis Barker wore an awful sweater and that other Travis got booted from Coachella, reportedly.
But there were also some bright spots this week, including North West’s Tiktok, Britney & Lindsay’s comebacks, Kim passed the baby bar, JAY-Z (maybe) bought an expensive watch, and the wonderful Francis Bourgeois, well, existed.
There were plenty of celeb product tie-ins, too, for some reason. We saw Drake’s OVO x Suicokes, Tyler’s luggage line, Billie’s Air Force 1, and Ye’s moto gloves — not a collab, really, but still interesting.
In terms of drops, the YEEZY GAP Round Jacket returned, Nike & CdG created heels, Supreme launched a Gundam, we witnessed a Rolex book, Pyer Moss dished a new sneaker colorway, KITH met Star Wars, Pokémon joined PORTER, and adidas prepped its first NFT collection
There were also plenty of new collections, including SS22 fare from Li-Ning, The North Face Purple Label, and Stone Island, while Givenchy launched Pre-Fall 2022 and Louis Vuitton revealed Virgil Abloh’s final lookbook.
Now, if you need us, we’ll be styling ourselves in dark academia.
“There’s no doubt that Lewis Hamilton has cemented himself as a fashion guy. As for Max Verstappen, the guy doesn’t have much drip when it comes to his wardrobe.”
“The fact that three male-identifying celebrities have debuted beauty brands in the past month speaks to the gradual dissolution of gender binaries that the beauty industry, and society in general, have long operated on.”
“In acquiring RTFKT and truly becoming a full-time player in the game, Nike has effectively posted its intent to make NFT/Metaverse design a priority.”
“The real idea behind this collaboration is to have people question why it’s so unusual for two sneaker companies to work together. Rather than trying to one-up each other on performance all these years, what if we’d harnessed all that innovation towards impact as well?”
“We are under capitalist rule, and it’s killing us. It’s time to change that. I’m going to be homeless in a year. I’m going to turn all the homes I own into churches.”
