Last night I saw Alfie Boe at the Glive entertainment venue in Guildford, with my mum and two of her friends. I'm a huuuuge fan of his, but as you can imagine, the average age of the audience was about 40! Anyway, it was an absolutely incredible show, he obviously sang 'Bring Him Home', and his other 'usual songs', but in the second half he mixed it up a bit and blew me away! I just realized how sexual that sounds...but anywho, so he sang some Elvis songs, The Eagles and Bob Marley...and I was amazed at how good he was at the Elvis songs! His voice really suited the rock n roll songs, but sadly he ruined Desperado by The Eagles for me :( I saw The Eagles live in Australia last year as they're one of my favourite bands, with Desperado being by favourite song of there's, and sadly Desperado is just one of those songs that no one, no matter how good a singer they are, can sing and put their own stamp on. It's one of those untouchable pieces that are just meant to be left and only sung by the original singer. He did do a very good version of Hotel California though!
As well as his obvious singing abilities, he is such a rock star! He was having so much fun on stage and was clearly loving every minute, and it made me laugh when he was jumping around the stage, swinging the microphone during the more upbeat numbers. I can't stand it when singers clearly don't want to be there, so it was great to see him enjoying himself and entertaining us all! The band were also fantastic, and they seemed quite close-knit, they shared a lot of jokes and made us all feel a part of it...I guess it helped being in such a small 'intimate' venue, like GLive. The only issue with the venue was that Alfie's voice was too big for it, he really didn't need a microphone! The power behind his voice overwhelmed me, but it was incredible, and I'm very happy I got to hear him sing in that setting.

For anyone who doesn't know who Alfie Boe is, or hasn't heard him sing...listen to him in the video below. I promise you won't regret it! (make sure you at least listen up to 2 mins 50 seconds!!!)
