Sakshi Bakshi, Tell us about yourself and your background before you launched Nucros
I come from a background of healthcare and doctors and hence I have always been inclined to do something to promote a shift towards a healthier life. After finishing my Business Management degree from Singapore Management University, I had an opportunity to work with a few consulting firms where I consulted firms across the healthcare spectrum including pharmaceutical companies, medical device manufacturers and healthcare service providers.
Afterwards I returned back to my roots to combine my passion for food, my experience in healthcare consulting, and my culinary expertise that I gained through my course from Le Cordon Bleu, London to launch Nucros Science.
How is Nucros different from other subscription based meal delivery services in India
Currently, we are the only one which caters and customizes your health preferences and offers a diverse range of meal plans including meals for disease management. We are also the only women’s health meal subscription player with meals for boosting fertility, pregnancy, lactation, PCOS management among others.
We are also the only player that follows a science-backed protocol and offers a doctor consultation along with nutritionist support. We use real health parameters such as blood test monitoring to monitor progress and adjust meal subscriptions. Lastly we are the only ones that do a thorough screening including nutrigenomics (DNA testing) to offer precise nutrition for your health goals.
Tell us about the DNA based nutrition introduced at Nucros and how does the process work
DNA Based diet is a smart way to achieve your health and nutrition goals because it is constructed keeping you in the center of all the planning, calculations and preferences and offers a new tool to nutrition experts to design and prescribe diets for individuals based on their genetic variation. Our plan includes an In-depth analysis of 46 SNPs in 36 genes for your food reactivity and vitamin account and a personalized nutrition plan for the treatment of a disease or recommendations based specifically on your genetics to improve your health and quality of life.
What were the challenges faced by you when you launched the brand during a pandemic last year?
Customer attrition has been a big challenge. Most subscribers achieve their health goals in a target span of 2-3 months and thus do not re-subscribe to the plan. As a solution, we have diversified our business portfolio into balanced meal plans for families and corporates and retail products as alternate revenue stream.
What are the future expansion plans for Nucros?
Our future plans include expansion to other tier-1 markets for our meal subscription program. We are also planning to grow our retail products for different health concerns such as smoothie premixes for boosting fertility, pregnancy and lactation and healthier food swaps for insulin resistance, etc.
