Although last Sunday saw Lewis Hamilton being crowned as the Singapore Formula One Grand Prix champion, it was the spirited crowd at the Amber Lounge who partied like winners. The 11th edition of Amber Lounge’s iconic Grand Prix parties took place over the course of the F1 weekend and with each passing day, party-goers were vying for more as the anticipated race day drew near.
Amp It Up With Amber Lounge
As Friday dawned upon the Amber Lounge guests, R&B artist Mýa kick-started the weekend and roused the audience to a fever pitch. By bringing them all the way back to the 90s for a retro-rollercoaster ride of emotions, the singer serenaded the crowd with her award-winning hits.
When the dead of night rolled around, the party was far from over; it was only getting started . Cue the Amber Lounge fashion runway, where home-grown designer Nida Shay wowed onlookers with embellished pieces, worn by international models on the captivating catwalk. This also set the stage for the Miss Universe Singapore contestants dressed by Bora Aksu, followed by the F1 drivers themselves running it down nonchalantly, donned in sleek suits tailored by Q Menswear. However, the fashion show was anything but fuel for materialism, as proceeds from the show went to Make-A-Wish Singapore, raising much-needed funds to help make sick children’s wishes into reality.
The event also boasted a celebrity-ridden guest list, with Liv Lo, Crazy Rich Asians’ Constance Lim and Fiona Xie rubbing shoulders with Daniel Macpherson, Warren Brown, Keith Duffy, David Coulthard, Martin Brundle and Jacques Villeneuve.
On race day, F1 drivers and teams ventured from the paddock to party, trading in their race gloves for a pair of dancing shoes as they got together with party-goers to celebrate the conclusion of the eventful weekend. Once again, Mýa led the charge, belting out more of her hits. Spotted were the F1 drivers, alongside American rapper/producer Jermiane Dupri getting their groove on and dancing the night away.
Amongst the event happenings stood an impressive Chanel display, as guests peered curiously, dying to get their hands on one of the brand’s coveted Monsiuer Haute Horlogerie watches. In the background, acclaimed producers, DJ SG, DJ Ono and DJ Buddha of Bangkok Invaders, DJ Micky and DJ Jagger spun until the sun rose over the exotic Asian destination, providing an exceptional atmosphere to get the guests hyped for the many festivities.
Sonia Irvine, Amber Lounge’s CEO and Founder, added: “Singapore just keeps getting better and better. Each year we fill our tables and Amber Lounge is brimming with the most vibrant atmosphere you can find at a party. Mýa and all the live acts were simply unbelievable and helped create yet another memorable Singapore Grand Prix after party.”
As Amber Lounge winds down for the year of 2018, it has set the bar oh-so-high for Grand Prix parties in Singapore. One can only expect marvellous things from them next year, so stay tuned for another epic party.
