Amy Schumer Reveals She’s Undergoing IVF to ‘Give Gene a Sibling’: ‘Feeling Run Down and Emotional’

Honest, raw and real. Comedian Amy Schumer recently revealed that she is undergoing In Vitro Fertilization, commonly known as IVF, in order to hopefully give her newborn son, Gene, a sibling one day down the line. The 38-year-old opened up about the moving process on Instagram on January 9.

“I’m a week into IVF and feeling really run down and emotional,” Amy captioned a photo of her bruised belly, a result of the fertility procedure. “If anyone went through it and if you have any advice or wouldn’t mind sharing your experience with me, please do. My number is in my bio.”

She also was very clear about her intentions with husband Chris Fischer in undergoing such an invasive course of action. “We are freezing my eggs and figuring out what to do to give Gene a sibling,” she concluded her caption, adding a red heart emoji.

This definitely would not be the first time the blonde beauty dealt with pain related to pregnancy and fertility. Back in late December, the funny gal opened up about what she called a “brutal” multi-hour C-section, which came after she had initially decided on an unconventional birthing process with a doula.

“It was a rainy Sunday and I woke up vomiting and was like the sickest I’d been the whole time,” she revealed while guesting on the Informed Pregnancy podcast. “And I was like, ‘I can’t do this anymore.’ I was so big and I was so miserable and couldn’t keep anything down.”

After she and her hubby, 40, decided to scrap their initial plan, they made their way to the hospital … where Amy’s endometriosis complicated things. “I was throwing up through the first hour of my C-section. It’s supposed to take about an hour and a half — mine took over three hours because of my endometriosis, and that was really scary,” she explained on the show. “It was kind of brutal.”

But the chef was by her side the entire time. “Chris was so great — we just stared in each other’s eyes and he just held me there,” she explained of her man. “Then they let me hold Gene for a good amount of time. I got to see him and hold him.”

We have a feeling this happily married twosome is going to give each other all the support possible on their next familial journey.
