This week has been pretty boiling here in Perth. It's been in the high 30's, so Cait and I decided to head to Lake Leschenaultia to cool off and go for a canoe. Sadly after driving an hour there, we found it was closed as the water was too hot, so there was a high risk of contracting amoebic meningitis. So we decided to drive another hour down to Serpentine Falls, just south of Perth in Armadale.
We wanted to go to Serpentine Falls last year but Cait couldn't get the time off work for the day trip, so we excitedly drove down, music blaring, getting very lost along the way and eventually getting there two hours later. The falls are absolutely beautiful, there are two pools that are like giant rockpools, but you're only allowed to swim in the top one where the waterfall is. It's not a 'proper' waterfall, just a small one, but it's still pretty cool!
At first I was super nervous and worried that something would be lurking in the deep dark depths of the rockpool ready to snap me up, but soon I was having too much fun in the cool water to worry, as you can see by my excited face...
If you ever get the chance go to go to Serpentine Falls, GO. It's just $12 entry per car, and it was awesome, so relaxing and really great to get away from the city and western suburbs for a day...even if we did get lost and end up driving over 300k's in one day.
