When Deepika Padukone proved that you can wear white to a wedding!
Most Indian weddings rarely allow a bride to wear white on her wedding day, save a few regions. However, if your heart is set on an ivory number, do like Deepika Padukone and wear the neutral tone for a reception or a cocktail event instead. During her Mumbai reception (hosted by Bhavnanis), the style diva wore Abu Jani Sandeep Khosla’s hallmark Chikankari. The elated designer duo said, “We were thrilled to create this ensemble for Deepika. She’s worn our clothes with a passion for years. Deepika’s beauty and grace are ethereal. And she chose Chikan. It is our ultimate love. And her appreciation for finesse and elegance made it her choice too. She is an absolute dream in it.”
The breathtakingly beautiful Chiffon Chikankari Ensemble in ivory featured a trail and was styled with a demi-sari and sumptuous chadar as a head dupatta. Hand embroidered by the women artisans of Lucknow, the intricate, ton sur ton thread embroidery came alive as millions of sequins, Swarovski crystals and gold zardozi embroidery enhanced and embellished it to perfection.
Dramatic zardozi lace borders edged both the demi sari and the chadar. A gold zardozi, Resham and crystal blouse featured a deep neck and delicate floral motifs with bugle bead and pearl tassels offset the pristine chikankari to perfection.
The duo accessorized Deepika’s ensemble with Fine Jewels from their new AJSK for SABOO jewelry collection that included a divine multi-tiered floral necklace in rose cuts and gold and oversized geometric disc earrings with pearls, gold, and polkis. The designer duo also dressed the Padukone family, where Prakash and Ujjala Padukone wore chikankari and Anisha Padukone looked stunningly beautiful in Resham.
