And Just like That, Peloton Cancellations Skyrocket

If you’ve been on the internet since the release of the anticipated Sex and the City reboot, And Just Like That, there’s no doubt that you’ve missed the tragic and surprising fate of one of the members of the main cast. Before I go on, spoilers are plenty.

In the first episode of the show, Chris Noth, who plays the famous Mr. Big, dies following a heart attack during his Peloton workout.

Fans were shocked and confused by the choice to kill off one of the show’s central characters so early on, and following the show’s release, Peloton has seen heaps of press – both good and bad.

Before the show aired, Peloton had approved the usage of the bike, but had no understanding of the scene in question prior to its release. Now, it seems as if searches for ‘Peloton Safety’ and ‘Cancel Peloton Subscription’ has skyrocketed by over 700%.

But, regardless of the jaw-dropping moment and potential bad press, Peloton has responded with its own video.

The company took to Twitter to release a short advertisement featuring Chris Noth, pictured in front of a fireplace with a woman that isn’t Carrie Bradshaw, saying “to new beginnings.” Then, he says “should we take another ride?” and the camera pans away, revealing two Peloton bikes in the living room.

Talk about when life gives you lemons. I still have so many questions about how they managed to pull the ad together so fast? And how much did they pay Chris Noth?

Stocks certainly went down after the episode aired, but with rumors of more restrictions and potential lockdowns, Peloton is once again awaiting a huge upswing. And, it seems as if the exercise company could potentially even sue HBO, so there’s that. Also, I definitely want a Peloton even more now.

Regardless of the show’s first episode and the drama it has caused, it delivered the biggest series debut for HBO, and according to HBO Max, Sex and The City views also went up 59%.

The new show follows Carrie (Sarah Jessica Parker), Miranda(Cynthia Nixon), and Charlotte (Kristin Davis), picking up their friendship in their 50s. Sadly, Samantha (Kim Cattrall) won’t be appearing in the show, but petitions are currently being signed for Jennifer Coolidge to reprise her role as the unhinged handbag designer Victoria from season six.

Hopefully, we’ve got plenty of fun cameos in store. If not that, at least we’ve got Carrie’s wild outfits to unpack.
