Andy Warhol is in the building. The Lighthouse ArtCenter in Tequesta will debut “Warhol! Warhol! Warhol!” in its Spencer Gallery January 13, featuring more than 20 pieces of rare Warhol works from the collections of Beth Rudin DeWoody and Marshall Fields. While the iconic artist is best known for his Campbell’s Soup Cans and silkscreen portraits of Marilyn Monroe, Elizabeth Taylor, and more, the ArtCenter exhibition chronicles his early and late career, from his I. Miller shoe illustrations created during his freelance days in the early 1960s to his experimental Oxidation paintings.
A display of pieces by ceramicist Ray Gross, including a life-size porcelain Harley-Davidson motorcycle, will pay homage to the Warhol works. Wander over to the Schorr Gallery for James Thurman’s “Paper Alchemy,” featuring his patented Thurmanite art made of recycled paper and eco-resin, and the Pop Art Jewelry Show & Sale. The Warhol exhibition will be on view through March 23.
