The luxury Italian footwear brand Sergio Rossi has announced the departure of Design Director Angelo Ruggeri. Ruggeri has served the brand since 2013, developing shoe collections and helming their men’s division.
Born in Sicily, Ruggeri has worked for many other high-profile fashion houses such as Tom Ford and Giorgio Armani. His latest shoe collection in February had influences from the 1920s – with ankle strap d’Orsay pumps and soft velvet platform sandals with sequins, noted WWD.
Sergio Rossi boasts of 80 stores across the world, in Europe, the Middle East, Asia, the US, Southeast Asia and Japan. Their goods are produced in San Mauro Pascoli, which is known in Italy as one of the country’s leather goods hub.
The Italian name was in the news late last year when former parent group Kering, who also own Gucci and Saint Laurent, offloaded it to Italian buyout firm Investindustrial. There is no confirmation if Ruggeri’s departure is connected in any way to the change in ownership.
