Dr. Anne C. Fischer is board-certified in general surgery and pediatric surgery. She has practiced medicine for 20 years and specializes in minimally invasive pediatric thoracic and laparoscopic surgery for newborns to teens.
She’s delighted to be working at the Palm Beach Children’s Hospital at St. Mary’s Medical Center because of its breadth of specialists and focus on pulling a team of specialists together. “Pediacentric, multidisciplinary programs ensure physicians are aware of the latest innovations and can use them,” she says. “I’m passionate about quality care, and there is a joy to taking care of children and treating them with state-of-the-art therapies in this medical center.”
Both of Fischer’s parents were physicians, and she decided on pediatric surgery because it has the potential to make a difference over someone’s entire life. “Some look upon it as sad (to care for sick children) whereas I think there are so many innovations that have improved the care of children,” she says. “For instance, there have been tremendous gains in pediatric oncology and neonatal care and the care of complex surgical patients.”
