Art Meets Decor

The Cultural Council of Palm Beach County often asks its visitors to reimagine their definition of “art.” In its latest exhibition, it pairs two mediums—visual art and interior design—to create stunning vignettes that are as inspirational as they are aesthetically pleasing.

On display through May 12, “Art & Décor” matched eight local designers with eight area artists. The task was simple: Design a room around a work of art. The results are varied, compelling, and very sophisticated. Here are a few of our favorite spaces.

Purple Reign: Starting with a mixed-media piece entitled Ghost Dance by artist Skip Measelle, JMA Interior Design built a bold statement anchored by midcentury modern pieces and splashes of purple and blue. Photo by Jacek Gancarz

By the Slice: Jennifer Garrigues’ eclectic approach to design is on full display in this room, which features sculptures and paintings by Luis Montoya and Leslie Ortiz. Photo by Jacek Gancarz

Perfectly Palm Beach: This indoor-meets-outdoor creation by Dalton Designs features a natural grass carpet and intriguing wooden accents, including antique windows. At the center of it all sits Reaching for the Light, a painting by Carin Wagner. Photo by Jacek Gancarz
