Aster
Sunday’s is one of my favourite days of the week, winding down before tackling the week ahead. Chowing down on Sunday Roasts in the pub or at home. Part of the Danddlondon‘ s restaurant group. Aster just launched Sunday feast with a luxury buffet style, you get unlimited starters, 1 main meal and unlimited desserts. I’ve been to a few restaurants in the past, Bluebird, Coq d’Argent, Madison, and Plateau. They never seem to disappoint giving 5-star service and solid great tasting food.
Sunday feast
Aster is a modern British all-day café and restaurant located at the nearly build Nova, Victoria. Just opposite Victoria Station, it houses more than 20 restaurants in the location.
My friend decided on celebrating his birthday at Aster, for £35 you get unlimited starters, one main and unlimited desserts. For an additional £15, you can access the bloody mary bar for unlimited bloody marys and garnishes. Located at the heart of Victoria, Aster is a Nordic affair offering modern European flair. Stepping inside the restaurant designed by Russell Sage Studio, welcomed the warm orange, sea green and brass metals colours used throughout the deli and seating areas.
Unlimited starters
Live music and a Saxophone performance fill the room, the guy makes the rounds interacting with each table. Seated near the bar, we had our Sunday Feast menu placed on the table. Whilst waiting for the rest of the party we were free to pick up a plate and make the rounds of the luxury buffet laid out around the deli area. A selection of pieces of bread, salads, and fresh seafood was available on the day. Scallops are teeny, but the tiger prawns, smoked salmon and oysters made up for it. With it being a help-yourself buffet, there were people who got greedy with oysters and took half the crate with them back to the table.
Mains
It did take a while and the waiter didn’t explain that we had to let them know when to order and bring out the mains. By that point we waited half hour for food to be cooked and sides were coming in dribs and drabs. For the mains you can either have brunch or a roast, our whole party went for the roast. I choose to have grass fed roast beef which was cooked perfectly, a spot of pink in the middle, vegetables are cut chunky and roasted until there was a burnt char.
Desserts
The dessert bar, surely caught my eye as it’s the first thing you see at the entrance. Freshly baked croissants stacked on the trays, mini chocolate cones, apple strudel with custard, chocolate swiss rolls, tarts, cheesecakes, and much more.
