Aston’s DB4 Series V Vantage Convertible in Fiesta Red
The 1962 Aston Martin’s DB4 Series V Vantage Convertible originally finished in fiesta red “will be undergoing full recommissioning and detailing” after a long-term storage, according to the private seller. One of the 110 DB4 constructed, only 70 were convertibles, and just 14 examples were built to Vantage specification. This DB4 V Vantage convertible was previously part of the international collection and after a full overhaul, the classic car will be equipped with a very desirable Special Series engine.
Introduced by the marque in September 1962, the final version of the DB4 Series V featured numerous changes as compared to the previous versions, including: three piece tail lights, a taller and longer body to provide more interior space and slightly smaller wheels, which kept the overall height the same.
The front view of many Series V cars took the styling cue from DB4 GT and retained the same aerodynamic design. Fitted with closed-in headlights, the same style was later carried over to the DB5. Inside the interior, featured the fawn Connolly hide trim, and this right-hand drive DB4 was specified with chrome wheels and a Motorola radio and Special Series Vantage engine upgrade.
The Aston had gone through several hands from 1970 to 1996, and made impressive concours record with the AMOC from 1989 to 1996. It went on display on the Aston Martin stand at the 1962 Earls Court Motor Show before the car was sold new to Fendar Limited of Old Bond Street, London W1.
Also, the Aston DB4 Series V Vantage is believed to have been owned in the 2000s by John Sinders, a Texas banker and Aston Martin collector, who was part of the consortium of investors who purchased AML from Ford in March 2007.
In addition to that, the DB4 had been pictured in three books: 1001 Images of Cars’ (Tiger Books), Aston Martin -The Complete Car (Palawan) and Aston Martin Heritage (Nixon & Newton).
