It’s official: Kaitlyn Bristowe and Jason Tartick are one of the cutest couples to come out of Bachelor Nation — and we know you agree. The adorable twosome has been together for nearly two years and are actively planning a bright future together following their May 10, 2020 engagement! Let’s take a look back at their beginning.
The former Bachelorette split from fiancé Shawn Booth in November 2018, nearly three years after the pair got engaged on season 11 of the ABC reality series in 2015. Two months later, the reality starlet met Jason while recording an episode of her “Off the Vine” podcast … and the pair definitely had chemistry.
The pair shocked fans everywhere when they went on two back-to-back dates in January 2019 — and within weeks, Kaitlyn started referring to the New York native as her boyfriend.
“It’s actually so strange to go from being engaged to thinking of someone as your boyfriend because I feel like that’s taking a step backwards — it’s not. It’s not. If anything, it’s taking a step forward because you’re just growing and evolving as a person,” she explained on her podcast at the time. “I would be upset if he was dating anyone else and I think he would be upset if I was dating anyone else.”
The lovebirds made their relationship Instagram official on Valentine’s Day and it wasn’t long before they were playing house. In June 2019, Jason and the Canadian singer moved in together. Days later, they adopted Ramen, their sweet golden retriever. Six months later, the proud puppy parents welcomed a second golden retriever to the family named Pinot G.
In October 2020, the Dancing With the Stars contestant exclusively revealed to Life & Style that she can’t wait to marry her boyfriend — but she’s letting him take the helm on planning. “Jason wants a big wedding. I wouldn’t even mind at this point going to a courthouse and just having family over, but Jason wants a big party,” Kaitlyn explained at the time.
She is also full of baby fever — and isn’t ~married~ to the idea of tying the knot before expanding her brood with her beau. “That’s not something that I feel has to happen in a specific order. I know some people feel that way but each to the own I guess,” Kaitlyn told Life & Style. “I’m ready for babies. When it comes to marriage, with everything going on in 2020, I don’t know because Jason wants to have a big wedding, so we’ll have to wait until the pandemic is over.”
A wedding is officially in the making, as Jason finally proposed to Kaitlyn on May 10, 2020 in Nashville. He presented his new fiancée with a stunning 5-carat, oval-shaped diamond set on a gold band. “It was everything I could have asked for,” Kaitlyn told about his romantic proposal. “The words that came out of his mouth were insanely beautiful. We’ve never locked eyes like that in our lives. We were holding hands, so intense, and I was listening to his every word, but still blacked out.”
