The creator of luxury retreats COMO Hotel & Resorts has announced the imminent opening of the latest addition to the collection, COMO Echo Beach on the south coast of Bali. Set to launch in February 2018, the new coastal resort will be the 14th luxury hotel in a portfolio that stretches across the globe, from Miami’s coastline to rural Bhutan.
This new addition sits on a pocket of land in the coastal village of Canggu where the six-mile beach is celebrated for having some of the best surf breaks in Bali. As it faces out onto the Indian Ocean, backed by Balinese landscape of verdant rice paddies, this setting gives the feeling of seclusion despite only being seven miles from Seminyak.
Together, the designers Koichiro Ikebuchi and Paola Navone have endeavored to redefine the Balinese shoreline by creating a contemporary structure with Asian and Italian influence, placing the focus on the surrounding nature and cultural authenticity. Landscape designer Trevor Hillier has then harnessed his expertise in Southeast Asian tropical landscapes to transform the surrounding land.
In addition to the resort’s 119 rooms, suites and villas, the resort will have a wealth of dining and wellness facilities. COMO Beach Club will lie at the heart of the resort serving new world cuisine using locally sourced ingredients and drawing on Australian contemporary flair with charcoaled grilled cuisine playing a part.
The resort’s COMO Shambhala Retreat will then encompass seven treatment rooms where the focus falls on Asian-inspired therapies including the signature COMO Shambhala massage and deep tissue massage. Yoga and pilates classes will be held twice a day and personal training will be available on request.
Owing to the sense of place COMO strives for, it’s the destination that makes this resort at Echo Beach unique. And here in Canggu it’s the surf that sets the coastline apart. Embracing this identity, COMO Echo Beach will be partnering up with Tropicsurf to create a luxury surfing concept, providing the right experience for any level. And if taking to the waves doesn’t appeal, the resort’s walking tours, golf excursions and a range of other guided trips around the island surely will.
