Every summer, the prestigious Berlin Philharmonic performs an open air concert at the Waldbühne, a unique forest amphitheatre on the outskirts of the city.
Translating as the ‘forest stage’, the Waldbühne was modelled on the ancient Greek Theater of Epidaurus (3rd Century BC) and is one of Europe’s biggest and most picturesque outdoor venues. The auditorium seats 23,000 spectators and the tree-sheltered space has divine acoustics. Traditionally, the orchestra ends its season here, finishing the performance each year with Berliner Luft from Paul Lincke’s operetta Frau Luna. For the best seats in the house, book a place in the covered VIP enclosure.
