It’s a scene straight out of a classic Bogart movie: Dim lights gracefully illuminate crisp tablecloths that will soon be crowded with martinis, shrimp cocktail, steak tartare, foie gras, and prime rib. It’s old-school decadence done right—and Bogie would be proud. A small semicircle stage anchors the intimate room, awaiting its transformation from set piece to playground for some of the country’s top triple threats.
This is the Royal Room at The Colony Hotel, and it is singularly responsible for reviving Palm Beach’s cabaret scene. In its 2015-16 season, the Royal Room Cabaret celebrated 15 years of sensational song and dance with an all-star lineup that included regulars like Tommy Tune and Avery Sommers as well as Royal Room newbies like Tony Danza (yes, he can sing!) and up-and-coming stars from Manhattan’s cabaret circuit. This year, it promises more of the same. Book a table and prepare to enter the heyday of cabaret.
