Bouquet Garni
This is a long overdue post, around this time last year I went on holiday to Malta. Although the weather had its highs and lows I had a great time with my friends. The food over there didn’t wow me as much, until I researched a restaurant near our hotel.
“Bouquet Garni” in Mellieha had to be the highlight food from my trip, in the evenings it’s super packed with reservations, so we returned on a quieter evening. Living in the hotel 5 minutes away meant we could peer through the restaurant every night. The service and food were outstanding, I can rave about this place with 5 stars for everything. Upon arrival, we had super friendly staff greeting us, sat by the open window we were served with delicious hot piping fresh bread and traditional Maltese butter. Prior to ordering the lovely guy thoroughly went through the specials on the blackboard and even brought out the uncooked fresh fish and meat for us to see.
We all went after the fantastic great value set meal for €18, which was a total bargain. Every single course we had was simply mouth-watering blowing delicious. I must say until this day, the steaks from Bounquet Garni had to be the best I ever had in my life. The meat was super tender, melted in my mouth like butter full bodied with flavours. As I didn’t fancy the desserts on the menu, they specially made an eton mess for me. My friends loved it so much they went back to the restaurant a few times in the week without me.
Rabbit meat
I did go a little adventurous and braved rabbit meat, which wasn’t bad and tasted like something I’ve eaten before. A little warning if you order any prawn dishes expect them to be served half cooked.
I had my fair share of crepes over there and discovered a place with delicious looking with air-dried strawberries and chocolate.
