My three grandchildren and the soon-to-arrive fourth one, in equal measure.
Greatest extravagance?
A 10-ct diamond for my wife on our 30th wedding anniversary
Greatest achievement?
Having set my mind and heart to perservere in all ways to recover from stroke. My efforts have paid off as I progressed to walk.
Greatest regret?
Not being able to track my best friend back when I was studying at the University of Leeds and rekindle our deep friendship, especially at our age.
What do you most value in your friends?
Sincerity and honesty. No airs or pretentiousness.
Favourite celebs?
Bill and Melinda Gates for their impatient optimism.
Your real-life hero?
My grandfather who started with nothing when he came from China and in a span of one generation managed to build a business empire with connections across Southeast Asia.
Who would you like to bring to the Prestige Ball?
My mother, when she was at her glamorous peak. She was quite known as the Elizabeth Taylor of Singapore in the early 1950s.
Characteristics one needs to be rich and fabulous?
Complete and unconditional humility without any airs yet able to project oneself to earn the respect and admiration of others.
If you could change one thing in the world?
As John Lennon said: No war but peace. All weapons of destruction would vanish in thin air and people could forgive and move forward for the betterment of mankind.
What motto do you live by?
To have joy, one must share it.
