To celebrate Canada’s 150th anniversary, the luxury travel operator Black Tomato has joined forces with the Manitoba-based whisky distillery Crown Royal. Together, the two brands have created a new itinerary taking in some of Canada’s most spectacular scenery, while also producing a series of videos to inspire travelers to set out on this journey in the footsteps of Black Tomato co-founder Tom Marchant.
Beginning in Gimli, Manitoba, the home of Crown Royal Whisky, the journey will lead guests to Vancouver, BC, retracing the journey the Royal Family took by rail on their 1939 tour of the country. This is when they were given the first ever bottle of Crown Royal, which was created especially for their visit.
By setting out on this trans-Canada trip, travelers will have the chance to take a private helicopter ride from Winnipeg to Gimli for an exclusive tour of the Crown Royal distillery, followed by a private straight-from-the-barrel whisky tasting in the Crown Royal warehouses, before embarking on an iconic Rocky Mountain railway journey.
In addition to traveling through the spectacular mountains of Alberta and British Colombia, guests will have the opportunity to set out on an adventurous heli-hike to Alberta’s Rockies and receive a customized bottle of Crown Royal whisky to savor once they return home.
