Just because Blake Shelton and Gwen Stefani will technically be competitors on the upcoming season of The Voice, doesn’t mean that the country crooner isn’t thrilled to share the stage with his ladylove. “I couldn’t be happier that she’s back on the show,” Blake, 43, gushed to Entertainment Tonight.
Aww! Isn’t he just the sweetest? Shortly after getting all mushy-gushy, however, Blake made it clear that he and Gwen, 49, are hardly a team. “You know, she wants to win and I want to win and that’s what they pay us to do on this show is to try to win the show,” Blake assured.
“It’s harder for [Gwen]. She’s not, she’s not competitive. She’ll be the first to tell you right up until it gets competitive and then all of a sudden she is.” Oh, Gwen, you sneaky devil, you! We absolutely can’t wait to see all of the antics (and potential PDA) that will go down between her and Blake.
That said, we’re still pretty bummed that Adam Levine will no longer be on the series. After all, his interactions with the other coaches, particularly Blake, were the best! As it happens, though, Blake isn’t letting a little thing like distance get in between his banter with the Maroon 5 singer, 40.
“Adam’s not on the show and I want him to know that he can still kiss my ass wherever he is right now,” Blake told ET in the same interview.
Of course, he was joking! But it’s always nice to see Blake get feisty from time to time. *Wink, wink.*
Be sure to tune into the season 17 premiere of The Voice on NBC on Monday, September 23, at 8 p.m. ET.
