Bottega Veneta has been known to do the unconventional, blacking out its social media pages, taking over Berlin’s Berghain nightclub, and holding fashion shows behind closed doors, the luxury Italian label likes doing things out of the box. This time, the fashion house is taking its extravagance to the Great Wall of China.
Under the guidance of creative director Matthieu Blazy, after the sudden departure of Daniel Lee in November, Bottega Veneta is continuing to stand out by taking over a part of the Great Wall of China for the upcoming Lunar New Year.
“Happy New Year” will adorn the Great Wall on a digital screen, in the shades of Bottega Green and tangerine — a symbol of good luck in Mandarin. Together with this installation, Bottega Veneta has pledged a donation to support the renovation and maintenance of the “Shanhai Pass”, the eastern end of the Great Wall.
The installation will be live from 6 to 12 January.
