Thinking of giving your home a luxury makeover in 2021? After an unprecedented twelve months, there’s no time like the present to make a fresh start, and from your health to your house, new beginnings are the perfect way to set the stage for a transformative year all round.
As we continue to spend more time at home than ever before, you may find yourself yearning to change things up a little and put a new and updated stamp on your surroundings. After all, an inspiring space is essential if you’re going to continue working from home for the long-term, and with the stress of keeping all your other daily responsibilities in check too, you deserve a calm and relaxing place in which to wind down afterwards.
Add to that the fact that making over your home has the potential to be a fun and fulfilling project with which to while away your free time during lockdown, and there’s no better time to take the plunge.
If your home is looking a little dated, then it could be time to inject some modern elegance into the look and feel. After all, if you can’t visit your favourite boutique five-star hotels at the moment, then why not recreate them at home?
The Rittergut & Runnymede design studio, founded by Miles Jason Rice with the vision to create timeless yet unexpected pieces of design furniture, has long been helping its customers to duplicate that stylish, sophisticated and sought-after look and feel.
Its range of beautifully designed pieces has been created with honesty and appreciation for the material, the crafts and the design. The result? Some truly stunning pieces of furniture that will make your abode the envy of all the visitors you are allowed to welcome in again post-lockdown – and will transform your living space into an impressive and opulent area that you’re happy to call your home.
Following in the footsteps of the artisan-craftsmen of the British Isles, Miles is a self-taught furniture designer, whose mantra is: “You cannot teach passion.” Taking inspiration from traditional designs and manufacturing processes, whilst pushing far beyond these to create his very own visual language, his work has fast become a sensation amongst the affluent, with highly sought-after pieces becoming the subject of quite some acclaim within the design world.
The first major series of works designed by Miles was a collection of dining tables, that aimed to push the boundaries not only of craftsmanship, but also of table design. Drawing inspiration from the beauty and specific properties of the materials, as well as modern architecture and art – in particular, installations and sculptures that play with the characteristics of the materials, Miles works with selected masters of their craft to develop and produce an entirely unique range that wouldn’t look out of place in your favourite designer home magazine.
In fact, the unique design of his Sculptura dining table was recognised at the 2019 Best of Year awards by the Interior Design magazine – one of the most prestigious awards in interior and furniture design in the industry – as an Honouree. Additionally, it received the seal of approval winning gold at the Muse Creative Awards, making it a muse to other creatives. And the recognition Miles has received for his work doesn’t end there, having also received the nod at the European Product Design Awards, the A’design Awards and many more.
The home of Rittergut & Runnymede is an ancient knight’s estate dating back to 1378. Steeped in rich history, it serves as an inspiration in itself.
“We built this company on ancient foundations, where traditional craft is not extinct – and that has become a huge part of the brand and what it’s all about,” says Miles.
“Our moto is: Design that keeps Craft alive. And at Rittergut & Runnymede, we personally select the craftspeople we work with to ensure only the highest level of quality. This allows us to create our entirely unique pieces, pushing the boundaries of design whilst also discovering new ways of using these traditional crafts.”
Furniture at Rittergut & Runnymede is made only from high quality hardwoods. And, as Miles says with pride, each piece is “honest to the core”.
His advice for anyone embarking upon a luxury home makeover in 2021?
“Invest in quality, timeless pieces that will last you for years to come. That way, you’ll have some beautiful pieces of furniture that will last you a lifetime – all you’ll have to do when you fancy a change is to play around with the colour schemes and accessories of your rooms. Timeless pieces will never look out of place, and best of all, can be passed down through the generations, too.”
Miles adds: “Moving forward, we will continue to focus on our vision of creating heirloom pieces of furniture that are timeless in design and well-made enough to last not just one, but many lifetimes. And in 2021, we’ll be taking our pieces further afield, bringing them to customers around the world.”
So, wherever you happen to live, keep your eye on this burgeoning and brilliant furniture company, as it’s set for big things over the next twelve months and beyond. And if you’re chomping on the bit to get started with your home makeover? You know exactly where to start.
