Breitling has further strengthened its connection to the world of aviation with the announcement of a new partnership with luxury commercial airliner Etihad Airways.
The Swiss watchmaker has been making pilot watches since 1952 when the Navitimer Pilot’s Chronograph was introduced and has developed special editions for a number of airlines including Pan Am and Swiss Air. Now, Etihad Airways in joining the ranks with the release of a new Aviator Day 8 & Date 41 Limited Edition watch.
Co-designed by the two companies, the black steel watch is the first Breitling ever to feature Arabic numerals, a tribute to the airline’s Middle Eastern heritage. The numerals are presented in a striking gold with matching hands, making for a clear and opulent display. The day of the week, positioned at the 12 o’clock position, is also written in Arabic.
Technically, it contains a COSC-certified chronometer which runs on Breitling Caliber 45, an automatic movement with more than 40 hours of power reserve. The black steel dial is protected by a double-anti-reflective sapphire glass. The 41mm steel case features a solid screwed back and is presented on a black leather strap.
The watch, which will retail at approximately $4,995, has been released to celebrate Breitling’s new position as the official timekeeper of Etihad Airways and will be limited to just 500 pieces.

The model will be exclusively available in Etihad’s home of Abu Dhabi before being released in the wider market and across the globe.
