Brooklyn Bridge

More than just a bridge connecting the two boroughs of Brooklyn and Manhattan, the Brooklyn Bridge is a National Historic Landmark (designated so in 1964). It was first built in the late-19th century and became so famous because it was the first bridge of its kind, which was the first steel-wire suspension bridge and the longest suspension bridge in the world. The towers feature Gothic Revival architecture and are made of limestone, granite and Rosendale cement. The bridge gives a wonderful view of both Brooklyn and Manhattan, as well as the East River, and it’s even better when you walk it. It doesn’t take long to cross the bridge, but the views are unparalleled. It’s quite packed with tourists, especially at sunset, but walk the bridge and reward yourself with a delicious dinner in whichever end destination you choose. At night, the bridge is beautifully lit up.
