As the Art Basel Cities initiative gets underway, Art Basel has announced that its first partnership will be with the city of Buenos Aires. Art Basel Cities aims to expand and propel Art Basel from organizing fairs to creating whole arts programmes for important cultural centers around the world.
This first partnership will highlight Buenos Aires’ rich cultural contributions to the international art world, providing a platform for the city to engage with Art Basel’s global audience.
In the coming months, the city of Buenos Aires and Art Basel will design a program that uses the city’s cultural landscape, infrastructure and resources to their full advantage.
Since launching in March 2016, Art Basel Cities goes beyond art fairs and works directly with cities and governments to develop cultural events with an international scope. Art Basel itself is of course the organizer of the world’s most recognizable and important art fair.
