The beauty both of Bulgari’s home city of Rome and of the female silhouette are honoured in the new pieces in the storied jeweller’s Divas’ Dream collection. The new necklaces, earrings, bracelets, pendants and rings, in luxurious materials including white and rose gold, diamonds, mother-of-pearl, pink opals, turquoise, malachite, carnelian, pink sapphires and emeralds, take a range of bold, creative new forms, inspired by the elegance of ancient Roman designs.
Bulgari’s associations with the style and beauty of the Italian capital go back to the 1960 Dolce Vita era of cinematic glamour and beyond – but Rome’s reputation for aesthetic distinction goes back even further, to ancient times. The Divas’ Dream collection looks back to this period for inspiration, finding it in the beauty rituals of the Roman Empire. The signature motif of the new collection is a fan-like shape based on the decor of the ancient Caracalla Baths, which also informed the collection’s radiant colours, while further inspiration comes from the peacocks that dominated the interior of the Diocletian Baths, ancient Rome’s largest. The fan pops up throughout the collection, both on its own and as a repeated motif, forming everything from clover-like circular shapes to rippling carpets that adorn bracelets and necklaces.
The new pieces include pendants, bracelets and earrings in white gold, with the main motif sometimes embellished with pavé diamonds and a single diamond at the centre. Pavé diamonds also combine with rose gold on a series of openworked pendants, bracelets and rings, including a pendant and ring featuring a tourmaline drop surrounded by pavé diamonds. A white-gold pendant and ring set, meanwhile, present the iconic fan shape with an aquamarine at its centre.
