A joint venture between Italian luxury brand Bvlgari and Marriott International, Bvlgari Hotels & Resorts debuts Bvlgari Hotel Shanghai – the sixth jewel in its slew of international hotels and villas.
In neoclassical renaissance style befitting of Bvlgari’s Roman roots, the restored and refurbished 1916 Chamber of Commerce Shanghai houses the hotel on its top 8 floors above the Bvlgari Residences, offering panoramic views of Shanghai cityscape. To complement its 82 rooms and suites, the hotel relishes guests with luxurious amenities from concept restaurants helmed by Michelin-starred chefs, bespoke shopping services with personal consultants, to luxury wellness spaces: its 2,000sqm spa and fitness centre.
A jewel amongst jewels: The new Bvlgari Hotel Shanghai stands as the centerpiece of Shanghai’s cosmopolitan landscape
Designed by renowned Italian architectural firm Antonio Citterio Patricia Viel, the interior of Bvlgari Hotel Shanghai is carefully crafted to exude stylistic consistency, comfort, and purity of Italian style. Enter beneath the iconic Bvlgari doorway to a dark marble lobby framed with double-height windows that reveal flora and fauna reminiscent of the Bvlgari Hotel Milano. Amidst bespoke glass and bronze ‘Pantheon-mesh’ screens that glow seductively with warm lighting, custom lamps inspired by 1930s Shanghai Deco hang above leather embossed check-in desks to welcome guests. It is contemporary Italian style that delights and wonders.
The hotel’s 63 guestrooms and 19 suites seek to reimagine luxury urban living in one of China’s fastest-growing cities. Fitted with modern Italian furnishings and state-of-the-art technology customized and curated by Antonio Citterio Patricia Viel, guests enjoy furniture and lighting hand-crafted by revered Italian brands like B&B, Maxalto, Flos, and Flexform. Its signature Bvlgari suite, unique to each Bvlgari hotel, sits as a 400sqm personal sanctuary offering supreme views of the ‘Shanghai skyline that brushes the clouds’. Accessible only by its private lift, the Bvlgari suite is also extendable to a 570sqm 3-bedroom residence by connecting with an adjoining suite, making it the largest hotel suite in Shanghai.
A 2,000sqm Bvlgari Spa and Fitness centre lies within the hotel for luxury indulgence. Guests can escape into spa treatment rooms, saunas, and relaxation rooms for beauty sessions using La Mer and Amala products alongside authentic Chinese wellbeing treatments unique to the Shanghai arm. For those who love to work up a sweat, fitness amenities include a 25m heated indoor pool, a 24-hour Technogym Fitness Studio, and a dedicated yoga and Pilates studio. A bespoke Workshop Gymnasium Fitness Studio founded by renowned personal trainer Lee Mullins provides a new level of comprehensive workout based on its innovative framework that includes physical workouts, diet analyses, and health assessments.
Bolstering the lodging experience are six carefully curated gourmet dining options. Bvlgari Hotels & Resorts brings contemporary Italian cuisine to Shanghai for the first time with renowned 3-Michelin starred chef Niko Romito. Guests may pamper themselves with artisanal chocolate at Bvlgari’s only chocolate boutique, Il Cioccolato, and dine under the stars surrounded by an unobstructed 180-degree view over Shanghai at the rooftop restaurant-bar La Terrazza.
In addition to the hotel’s unique event venues set to accommodate 10 guests to as many as 250, the building is surrounded by lush Italian-style hidden gardens, perfect for summer gatherings and events big or small.
Bvlgari Hotels & Resorts not only reaches for the skies with its latest crowning jewel atop the 48-floor Chamber of Commerce Shanghai building. All at once, the hotel strongly commits to minimizing environmental footprint through design and attitude. Double-sided thermal insulated glass windows and a curtain wall system reduces waste from solar heat consumption, while thoughtful situation of mass glass windows minimize light pollution. The hotel cooling system is also of sustainable design, on top of a continual effort to save energy and protect the environment by encouraging guests to reduce and reuse.
The Bvlgari Hotel Shanghai marks the latest fulfilment of Bvlgari’s hospitality collection and will be followed by Paris and Moscow in 2020, and Tokyo in 2022.
