Café Kitsuné at Pantechnicon
The Grade II-listed Pantechnicon building transformed into a 5 Storey of Nordic and Japanese dining and shopping in one building.
Café Kitsuné is housed at the ground floor at Pantechnicon. Created by the French Japanese music and fashion label Maison Kitsuné. The word Kitsune (きつね, 狐) means fox in Japanese and you see this mascot used as cookie shapes and merch sold at the shop.
On the menu at Café Kitsuné London
Located in the Belgravia area on Motcomb, the Pantechnicon building is not hard to spot. On the menu at Café Kitsuné are breakfast, lunch, evening snacks, coffees, teas, specialty drinks and pastries.
To order you can either queue up by counter or wait for table service by sitting outside or upstairs. During my two visits, both ways work seamlessly. Whilst ordering by the counter you get to see the pastries in the cabinet.
Double baked matcha croissant
Double baked matcha croissant is flaky, crunches on every bite. Filled with matcha inside, the top covered in crunchy almonds and powdered sugar.
The divine pastries are created by executive pastry chef Liza Kermanidou. The menu is ever changing and there is always something new to try.
Iced matcha latte
A light refreshing sweet drink, an all-time favourite of mine to order at places.
Shrimp sando £9
I’m love sandwiches, the Japanese sando is constructed with thick wedges of shokupan bread, a Japanese milk bread. The filling and often crunchy white cabbage. The shrimp sando is light, and has a citrus punch from the yuzu mayo.
Hibiscus rose lemonade
Hibiscus rose lemonade was one of the specialties drink at the time, a vibrant pink hibiscus rose syrup is added with their housemade lemonade.
Things to note
If you don’t drink or have allergies to cows milk, than some of the specialties drinks are not suitable for you. There’s no mention on the Café Kitsuné menu, and it was only when I asked if milk can be swapped out the staff replied the syrups are pre-made with cows milk.
Without a failure, I always buy some extra pastries to takeaway to eat at home. So far, I’ve been blown away by Liz’s creation and techniques.
