Anything but basic! While most brides-to-be opt for wedding white, some stars like to get a little daring with their dresses. Rather than wearing a princess-like gowns with tulle galore, they walk down the aisle in untraditional attire.
From biker jackets and gold dresses to chic jumpsuits, celebs never fail to surprise Us with their looks on their big day. Through the years, switching up bridal style has become all the more popular and an expression of individual style.
Take Selling Sunset’s Christine Quinn for example. For the real estate agent’s highly publicized nuptials to Christian Richard, she wore two custom-made black couture gowns from Galia Lahav.
But getting the dresses ready to go before saying “I do” wasn’t an easy feat. Wedding planner Lisa Laffterty told The Metro that the process was difficult. “We struggled with the dress a little bit in the beginning, because she wanted two custom dresses. It’s hard enough to get one custom dress in two months that black,” she told the outlet.
Quinn isn’t the only star to skip out on wedding white. Kristen Bell famously wore black to the Beverly Hills courthouse when sealing the deal with husband Dax Shepard in 2013.
Getting creative in the color department isn’t the only way stars have switched up their wedding day style. Take Cardi B for example. The 29-year-old singer wore a white velour tracksuit to her oh-so secret bedroom ceremony with Offset in 2017.
“We found someone to marry us and she did, just the two of us and my cousin,” Cardi captioned a photo of the nuptials. “I said I do, with no dress no make up and no ring!” Offset later gave the “WAP” singer the diamond she deserved in the middle of one of his concerts.
While Cardi and Quinn went to extremes with their wedding day attire, Real Housewives of Orange County alum Meghan King found a happy medium when tying the knot with Cuffe Owens, whom she split with in December 2021. For the big day, she wore a “mature blazer dress” from Rosario.
And get this: Owens picked out her look! “I bought thousands of dollars worth of dresses online — everything from traditional gowns to cocktail dresses off the rack,” she told Brides. “Breaking from tradition, I tried all of them on for Cuffe to see.
