Celebrate Marathon Season (With or Without Actually Running) With On’s Event Series

Even for non-runners, marathons are major annual events. For one day only, roads shut down across the city to make way for thousands of people from all over the world to pound the pavement together, as thousands more cheer them on from the sidelines. Considering that most renowned marathons were canceled last year, 2021’s marathon season promises to pack more of a punch than ever before.

As one of the most devoted and most disruptive running brands, On is pushing out all the stops and launching a new events program in celebration. The event series, which will be open to the public, is called Point2 after the crucial 200 meters that make 42 kilometers a marathon (for those that don’t know a marathon is 42.2 kilometers). These final 200 meters might seem minimal when you consider the total length of the race, but runners know that that final stretch, when the finish line comes into sight, is the most euphoric of all.

Point2 kicks off this Thursday at Protein Studios in Shoreditch, London. From September 30 to October 3, On will facilitate a four-day program of events hosted by and for the capital’s creative and running communities. The fun starts on Thursday night with a party organized by Highsnobiety and Reprezent Radio and continues over the next three days with a packed schedule including talks with travel platform Trippin, speed mentorship workshops, yoga classes, and lots more. On Sunday, as runners lace up their sneakers and head to the starting line in Greenwich, the less sportif among us are invited to gather at Protein Studios for a marathon screening and drinks.

As if that wasn’t enough, throughout the entire event, an experiential art installation by digital craftsman Lucy Hardcastle will offer visitors a sensorial feast inspired by the physiological stages the body travels through during the last 0.2 of a marathon. For many of us, that might be as close as we’ll ever get to experiencing the real thing.

Point2 is open to the public and takes place from September 30 to October 3 at Protein Studios, London.
