They’re one of the biggest trends at the moment, but selfie sticks have been banished from the Chateau de Versailles in the Paris area.

The chateau is the latest in a line of historical monuments to forbid use of the sticks, which let people take selfies together, in its interior spaces.
This week the photography tool was also banned by the Washington-based Smithsonian, the world’s largest research and museum group, which manages 19 galleries throughout the US capital. In New York the selfie stick has been banned from the Met, MoMA and the Guggenheim.
