This is … a whirlwind! Actress Chrissy Metz may not have the most extensive dating history, but that doesn’t make her love life any less complicated.
In 2008, the This Is Us starlet, 39, married ex-husband Martyn Eaden. The pair was together for seven years before calling it quits in 2015. While little is known about Chrissy and Martyn’s relationship, she did offer fans some insight in her 2018 memoir, This Is Me. “I am still working on my goal of being a better ex-wife than I was wife,” Chrissy penned. “Marty is such a great guy and I am grateful that we had our time together.”
Additionally, she noted that they met online in 2006 after her friends “strong-armed” Chrissy into setting up a dating profile.
In 2016, Chrissy began dating former This Is Us cameraman Josh Stancil. However, as of March 2018, the American Horror Story alum revealed that the couple went their separate ways. “I’m dating myself currently,” Chrissy told Wendy Williams at the time.
As it happens, Chrissy’s single lady lifestyle didn’t last too long. Just eight months after splitting from Josh, she began dating composer Hal Rosenfeld. “They’ve been dating for a few months now. He is such a sweet guy and everyone around Chrissy really likes him. He adores her and she is really into him as well,” a source gushed to Us Weekly in November 2018.
Unfortunately, seven months later, Chrissy alluded to their breakup in a lengthy Instagram post. “If you’re not partnered and find yourself partnered at some point, remember this: If you’re in the honeymoon phase, great … and open your heart to what integration may look like with that person. You won’t want to integrate with everyone, and that’s OK,” the songstress explained. “That’s truly where we choose WHO we want to stand with. Then, in July 2019, Chrissy sat back down with Wendy Williams, 55, to confess she has a new man. Basically, she told the longtime talk show host that her current beau slid into her DMs … how very new age!
“He had messaged a couple of times, very sweet but not obnoxious or weird,” Chrissy recalled. “And then I was like, ‘Let me see if he’s cute. Oh, he’s cute! OK, I guess I can respond.’ But I waited a little bit because you can’t be an eager beaver. And then I responded, and then we just sort of hit it off.” Chrissy went on to clarify that the relationship was very “new” and “exciting.”
It looks like Breakthrough actress is back on the market. “Chrissy is single and looking forward to dating. It might not be right away with the pandemic and all, but she’s excited to see what kind of guys are out there,” an insider exclusively told Life & Style in August 2020. “She’s done the dating apps in the past and has no issues going back to them now.”
The actress skyrocketed to fame in the past few years, which resulted in more attention in her dating life. “It’s no secret that she gets guys DMing her, so I don’t think there will be a shortage of suitable bachelors,” added the source. “She just needs to weed out the weirdos and the not worthy ones, which isn’t always easy to do.”
All in all, Chrissy will not settle until she finds her perfect guy. She shared a cryptic quote via Instagram about having a “wild heart” on August 20. “It’s the ability to be tough and tender, excited and scared, brave and afraid — all in the same moment,” the Brené Brown quote read. “It’s showing up in our vulnerability and our courage and being both fierce and kind.”
