As one of the giants in fashion photography, Steven Meisel has a deftness of composition that few can match. He’s simply able to capture the languor of a pose and the flourish of style, layering on his own touches later – culminating in some of his most outrageous and controversial shots while maintaining that state of allure so essential to fashion. He’s done up the covers of various Vogue editions, and worked with some of the most prestigious fashion houses out there. It’s no wonder, then, that the luxury leather goods and accessories brand Coach decided to enlist his help in capturing their latest collection Coach 1941. This collection was first unveiled in September at New York Fashion Week.
Shot on location at Red Hook in Brooklyn, the campaign was structured to invoke a classic American aesthetic. The brand celebrates its 75th anniversary this year, and this aesthetic has been the core of their brand identity all this while. The campaign will feature models Lexi Boling, Rianne van Rompaey, and Imaan Hammam – all posing in an American car with vintage pieces, outerwear, and leather goods for the collection. The luscious interior of the car works off the quality of the accessories, perfectly matching with Meisel’s camera. A special item is Coach’s “The Rogue” handbag — the brand’s latest bestseller — which lands in new materials this season.
The campaign will feature in June editions of various fashion magazines and the collection will be available in stores from May 23. You can check out more over at Coach’s website.
