The Converse CX line is all about comfort through progressive design. As much of the world continues to slowly reopen post pandemic, the brand is aiming to fuel movement with all-new silhouettes like the Aeon Active CX and revamped classics including the Weapon CX and Chuck Taylor All Star CX.
“We are taking iconic favorites, including the Chuck Taylor All Star and the Weapon, and enhancing them with CX in response to consumer insights to drive comfort improvements,” said Phil Russo, VP of Global Design and Innovation. “At the same time, the design team continues to explore, evolve and iterate our design language – creating future-forward styles with the new Aeon Active CX and delivering bold expression via the Run Star Motion.”
Converse debuted its CX series last year and has already grown the collection by more than 15 times, consistently introducing new and retooled products designed with the foremost comfort materials and technologies. At the center of each design is CX foam, which improves impact absorption and maximizes long-lasting wear. All CX footwear revolves around three aspects in particular: fit, ride, and stride. Lightweight foams and materials like CX foam, EVA foams, and stretch canvas enhance comfort and adapt to the foot, all while delivering a smooth ride. New rubber outsole designs are then implemented to boost traction and durability.

For 2021, Converse is introducing the all-new Aeon Active CX to the CX collection. Boasting an innovative look and design, the futuristic silhouette is made using a stretch bootie construction and exaggerated heel kick to allow for easy and on off. A CX foam drop-in is paired with an EVA foam midsole to provide all-day comfort no matter the activity. A-COLD-WALL*‘s Samuel Ross will be releasing a collaboration on the Aeon Active in late 2021.
Next up, the Run Star Motion is an evolution of the Run Star Hike, delivering an elevated stance and lightweight comfort by way of a CX foam drop-in and EVA foam midsole. The upper remains true to form, while all attention is drawn to an exaggerated, wavy platform and sculptural lugs that give the shoe lift and traction through an eye-catching design.
As mentioned previously, the Weapon and Chuck Taylor All Star have been reimagined for the new CX collection. A modern take on the 1980s on-court shoe, the Weapon delivers lightweight comfort and classic court style, with its original Y-bar for foot stability, CX foam midsole and sockliner, and new outsole that supports stride. The Chuck Taylor emerges with stretch canvas uppers, CX foam, and transparent foxing that showcases the midsole, all coming together to achieve a more energized look.
You can look forward to the Run Star Motion CX launching globally on June 16 at Converse.com and select retailers, while the Chuck Taylor All Star CX and Weapon CX are due to release later this fall.
