How precious! Counting On couple Joy-Anna Forsyth (née Duggar) and Austin Forsyth gave baby No. 2 a truly special name: Evelyn Mae Forsyth.
“Evelyn Mae Forsyth. I wanted her name to be perfect and elegant!” the new mama gushed in her caption. “We had a hard time deciding, but after a few days finally settled on ‘Evy Mae’ and we think it fits her perfectly!”
The name “Evelyn means Beautiful Bird and is of English origin,” according to BabyNames.com, while the moniker Mae can mean “pearl,” according to NameBerry.com.
The proud parents welcomed their daughter on August 21.
At 25 weeks pregnant, Joy revealed she and Austin were waiting to hold their daughter before finalizing her name. “We’re not deciding on a name until she’s born, but she is already our little princess!” she wrote on Instagram at the time. Her name is definitely fitting!
Joy-Anna and Austin were thrilled to be expanding their family. The two are already parents to their son, Gideon, whom they welcomed in February 2018. Prior to the birth of their daughter, Joy-Anna conceived another baby girl, Annabell Elise, who sadly died. Joy suffered a miscarriage at 20 weeks pregnant in June 2019.
Losing Annabell was very hard on the parents. They made sure to honor her on the anniversary of her miscarriage. “I remember leaving our ultrasound appointment, sobbing and wondering how we were ever going to move forward and so fearful of having to deliver her,” Joy shared on Instagram in remembrance. “It hurts to look back at these pictures and remember the pain and heartbreak, but, when I do look back, I am so thankful for how far we’ve come … how God has given us more joy, peace [and] healing than I ever thought we would have again.”
Going into their next pregnancy, the parents feared the worst after having such a traumatic experience. In the early weeks of her pregnancy, doctors worried she might have another miscarriage. Thankfully, the couple revealed on their family’s YouTube account their little girl was perfectly healthy.
“It’s such a relief,” Austin said in the clip. “The last, I don’t know, month? We’ve just been really unsure if it was going to be a viable pregnancy or not. It’s just like a huge load lifted off our shoulders knowing that the test came back good.”
Congrats to the happy couple and their beautiful baby girl!
