Dominique Ansel Bakery
Cronut creator comes to London
If you been living under a rock for the past five years and haven’t heard of a cronut than I can’t help you there. Dominique Ansel is the creator of the cronut, a hybrid of a croissant-like dough that looks like a doughnut. There have been many imitators since 2013 but Dominique Ansel Bakery has finally opened up in London in 2016.
Location
Dominique Ansel Bakery is situated between Victoria and Belgravia, with plenty of seats and patio style seating area at the back. The menu consists of many French sweet and savoury offerings with an eat-in or takeaway price.
Blossoming hot chocolate
One of the drinks I’m about to talk about is available to eat-in only. You may have seen people post the blossoming hot chocolate for £5.40. You know how you can get blossoming tea in a cup and you watch it unravel once hot water is poured into the cup. This is the same sort of experience you get, the server places a chocolate cup into the paper cup and you can see the marshmallow leaves unfold into a blossom on top of the hot chocolate. The hot chocolate itself is very sweet and rich but it’s worth the experience.
The famous cronut
Now, behold I finally got my hands on the real deal. I’ve tried many places that tried to copy Dominique Ansel cronut since back in 2013 unless you were in New York you wouldn’t be able to get your hands on one. There’s only one flavour created each month. This incredible invention takes on the croissant multiple layers that flake into pieces, in between the layers is a custard-like cream. It is finished with a glazing of sugar and sugar granules dusted on the sides. Totally worth the £4. If you were to visit this the must-have thing to order.
